Legal Separation

An easy way to describe a legal separation is to compare it to limbo. A couple isn’t quite together anymore, but they aren’t divorced either. Entering into this agreement means taking many things into consideration, such as if one party will be moving out and how that might affect what is awarded in a divorce. Even if you are legally separated, you could still be faulted for past-due rent or utilities. Freeze any joint credit accounts to avoid any run-ins with debt you could be faulted for. Finally, as with any move, pack up important personal items, clothing, toiletries, and other household items you need or may want down the road.
