Women’s health expert, Dr. Helen Troncoso, reminds us that despite statistics about obesity and health problems, many chronic illnesses can be prevented. She defines wellness as “making a personal choice, a decision, to take back responsibility over your life.” She suggests starting with an inventory of how you spend your time and energy, and identifying your current problems. Next, make some realistic short and long-term goals. Look at nutrition; what and how much are you consuming? Portion control and reading food labels put you in control. Choose a form of exercise you enjoy and make a commitment to it.
