Apologizing is a very important part of having a healthy relationship. But apologizing is so much more than just saying that you are sorry. First you must show that you regret hurting your partner. Then take personal responsibility for your actions. By doing this, you demonstrate that you understand what you did and how it was hurtful. Afterwards, you can explain your intentions or the circumstances. Remember, you are taking these steps to help the other person understand you did not mean to hurt them. After this has been successfully accomplished, you can work to find a solution to the problem together.
