Martin Boroson, author of One-Moment Meditation, believes “…if you don’t do something to un-stress yourself here and now, there is a real risk that the stress, because you are holding on to it, will become part of you.” That’s a great motivation to do something about it! Boroson offers some practical techniques for handling stress, including laughter (forced at first), singing, moving your body, cleaning, a deep-breath sigh, or a moment of meditation. He notes these techniques don’t “eliminate the cause of your stress,” but rather provide emergency stress relief and release, so you don’t become a “stressful, stressed-out person.”
