What does “falling in love” mean to a teenager? Psychologist Carl Pickhardt says teenage love is complex and compelling, but usually not what adolescents will experience in maturity. Because it’s so different than what they’ve known before, teenage love feels life-changing and provides a new world of feelings. Pickhardt encourages parents to be involved and supportive, and to try to see the positive things their child will experience, including learning how to treat another person in a love relationship. He also discusses the differences between boys and girls and the way they react to falling in love and to the pain of break-ups.
